Salt Air & Bush Walks Cure the Winter Blues - Winter Walking

Are you a beach person? Now that it is cooler, trade your swimsuit for your walking boots, and enjoy our beautiful coastlines this winter. There is no better cure for the winter blues than getting out into the bush, or breathing in some cool, salty air.

One of my favourite walks is the coastal track from Sunshine Beach to Noosa Headlands, in Queensland. You do not need a lot of experience, just a moderate level of fitness and some free time. The walking tracks within Noosa National Park are well sign posted, and really, you are not that far away from civilisation, or a post walk coffee!

The trails are easy. But…
  • Wear a hat, sunglasses and comfortable shoes. Always wear sunscreen, even when it is overcast.
  • Take some water with you. And a few yummy snacks to fuel you along the way.
  • Plan your walk, and allow adequate time to complete your walk. It is so easy to get distracted by the beauty of the coast, so don't forget to keep track! Bring your mobile phone, and it is probably a good idea to tell someone where you are going and how long you will be.

Above: Rocky headlands add to the drama of the walk. A great place for photos - keep a lookout for humpback whales migrating (between June and November in QLD).

Walking in nature can be very nurturing... De-stress. Get a little Vitamin D. A little rain won't dampen your experience.
Get out and enjoy our Australian winter wonderlands!
